The University of Porto has always considered sport activities as indispensable. There are several infrastructures that students can take advantage of:
There is also a rowing and canoeing centre, both on the south side of the Douro River (Vila Nova de Gaia).
In addition to providing various facilities for the practice of sports, the University of Porto also has agreements with several gyms and fitness centers.
FEUP, in cooperation with its Sports Office, also organizes regular activities. Every Tuesday and Friday, between 1.00pm and 2.00pm, Yoga classes are held open to the entire community of FEUP and Interface Institutes. For these it is advisable to use a tracksuit and mat (or towel).
A Faculty is a privileged space for the intersection of experience and knowledge. In 2002 FEUP’s government established the Cultural Commissariat, in order to provide this community with culture and art.
Activities are regulary programmed, ranging from the theatre and cinema exhibitions, music and debates. Some of these activities are organized in co-operation with cultural institutions.
The Library of FEUP is another point of access to culture, with several activities for the community.
As a way to encourage reading habits in the community, the Library created FEUP’s Reading Club, presenting sessions that encourage discussion about authors and literary works.
Alongside these sessions, is also launched a plan of Training for the community, whose goal is the development of information literacy skills.
In addition are regularly presented lectures, exhibits and sessions celebrating special dates.
The Library is also responsible for the FEUP Museum, created in order to inventory, conserve and promote the collection of artifacts and equipments of the institution.
