CMU Portugal Program Information Sessions: 2nd Call for Entrepreneurial Research Initiatives (ERIs) and for Early Bird Projects

October 27 | 10h00 - 11h30 | Room I-105 DEEC

Is now open the 2nd Call for Entrepreneurial Research Initiatives (ERIs), until December 16, 2014, and a 2nd for Early Bird Projects is expected to open in mid-November, 2014. Both calls are funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). The Entrepreneurial Research Initiatives are projects in science, engineering, management and policy that link both fundamental and applied research to technological innovation and economic development, explicitly focusing on important real world problems entailing significant scientific challenges. On the 1st Call six proposals that have strategic importance for the Program were approved for funding. On the 2nd Call the number of ERIs funded will depend on the scale, scope, and quality of the proposals submitted. A typical proposal should cover efforts for a period of up to 48 months. More information about the 2nd Call for Entrepreneurial Research Initiatives available here. Early Bird Projects are designed to assist small teams of researchers from Portuguese institutions, Carnegie Mellon University and industry partners, to jumpstart high-impact potential activities of strategic relevance for the Program. The awards will be effective for projects lasting 18 calendar months or less. More information about the 2nd Call for Early Bird Projects is available here . To present and discuss the concept, structure, and financial support for the ERIs and for the EBPs, we will organize a set of information sessions in several Portuguese universities and at Carnegie Mellon University. The target audience for these meetings includes faculty members, researchers, doctoral students, senior staff of innovation and entrepreneurship support organizations, business executives, and startup managers. The presentation will be given by João Claro, the national director of the CMU Portugal Program. The slides are available here.
