Master in Fine Arts

The Master in Fine Arts (MAP) proposes, through its curricular structure, to contribute to the development and consolidation of individual projects of students, offering various territories of specialties in Fine Arts such as: Drawing, Sculpture, Intermedia & Painting.

If, on the one hand, one intends to deepen the studies of the BA in Fine Arts offered by FBAUP, MAP also allows the possibility for Students of different origins and backgrounds to be able to develop their skills and deepen their studies here.

The study plan is built on an experimental regime of work in the Studio, coordinated by Professors from different specialties, and also includes Researchers and Invited Artists from different nationalities and academies.

The studio work, as in other courses offered to the Student, may be accompanied by workshops with invited artists, residency programs, exhibitions, visits, conferences, as well as other activities to be carried out in a predefined calendar.

By stimulating and encouraging partnerships external to FBAUP, in the sense of promoting and creating activities with professionals and defined by the students, MAP includes in its final presentation program the formats: Dissertation and Project Report.

Students will be awarded a Certificate of Studies with the specialty in which they completed and developed the MAP Study Program.

Employment Prospects

There is a wide spectrum of possibilities at the professional level, in professional activities/outputs, such as:

  • independent artistic activity,
  • research activity in the various specialties of the MAP,
  • the creation of and collaboration with multidisciplinary business and industrial teams,
  • participation in teams multidisciplinary activities in cultural organizations,
  • the dynamization and cultural production, 
  • diverse collaborations with museums, galleries, theaters and other cultural spaces.
